Common Merganser and Sturgeon 1/1 by Stephanie Hill
Common Merganser and Sturgeon 8.5” x 6.5”. Ink, watercolour, and gouache on cotton rag paper, 1/1, framed, 2026.
Like so many Canadian cottagers, Mergansers summer on Canada's many lakes and rivers. A creature of ancient lineage, the river sturgeon coexists peacefully year round. These drawings are inspired by the Ottawa, Gatineau, and St Lawrence rivers, and the many indigenous creatures that live there.
With very few exceptions, all of my work describes flora and fauna that is indigenous to Canada, and very frequently specifically the Ottawa Valley.
