Atalanta was the only woman to take part in the Calydonian Boar hunt alongside Theseus and Meleager. With the quarry cornered, the hunt devolved into chaos. Peleus misses his mark and accidentally kills Eurytion while Atalanta raises her bow steady and sure, draws, and strikes first blood. Meleager is awed and awards her the hide as an honour prize.
